My Bead Table Blog Hop

Oh wow! Is it October 13th already??? I had signed up for this blog hop by Lisa of A Grateful Artist - Pine Ridge Treasures a long long long time ago. When I received the beads, I was super excited and a bit bummed that the reveal was not until October 13th. So the packets were put away, "safely". We all know what THAT means. It means I got them out only a week before the hop, in a panic!

And turns out I have another reveal today, for the History Blog Hop as well. And when did I get to working on that? Yup...last week!

Turns out I thought I had the Mismatched Earring Swap reveal today as well. Luckily, since it was a swap, I had to finish it much before the reveal day. It was photographed and all. And as luck would have it, I realized that the reveal for the one challenge that I was sort of prepared for...is NOT today, its on the 16th :-) Oh well! I did manage to make something for both of today's reveal, with some not-so-satisfactory photos. Hubby's reaction when he saw the photos: don't add the photos, just write about the pieces and let the readers use their imagination! Now I can't ask you to stretch your imagination THAT much! So here goes.

So for this hop, Lisa sent a pack of beads from her bead table to the participants, and the challenge was to make something using only beads from our stash. No buying new stuff! Which was easy for me. I never buy new stuff for challenges. The difference here though was...that most of the beads she sent were "filler" kinds, whereas in other challenges, I was given focals to work around. So it was not AS easy as I thought it would be. I managed though :-) Sadly, I don't have pics of all the beads Lisa sent me. But I will tell you which ones are hers...

The first thing I made, was actually for the Bead Soup Blog Hop. I used some of the beads in this bracelet:

You see those cute, round, dotted beads at the end of the strands? Those are from this bead selection.

Next up, I made this necklace:

and these earrings

All the glass beads in this set are from Lisa's collection.

Next, I made these earrings...the beads are all from Lisa. I LOVE this pair!

And finally, we have this pair of earrings. The teal bead is from Lisa. Am really very happy with this one too!

Oh wait, I think I have one more, unfinished necklace, that I am not sure whether I like enough to finish! Would like some honest opinions! The leaf and the blue beads are from Lisa.

Apologies for a very "wordless" kind of post (quite opposite of what the hubby had suggested), but I gotta move on to write up my post for the History Hop!

Seeya...sooon!

Oh! And here are the other participants :-) Seeya!

  3. WOW you've been busy girl! I remember that bracelet and how much I loved it from the bead soup hop - gorgeous and rustic! I really love how you used that filigree ... did you do anything to the metal? I love the finish on it. That last pair of earrings - love the spirograph thingy .. where did you find those? they are awesome! Well done!! great use of all those beads!

    1. Thank you! Yeah, that bracelet is one of my absolute favorites right now!

Didn't do anything with the filigree...that's how it had come. Will send you the info where I got the spirals.

  4. Hi Kashmira,
All your pieces are beautiful. As for the unfinished necklace, which I think it is a very pretty start, I would just put a chain and clasp on the rest and call it done.

    1. Thank you, Therese! That is what I was thinking of doing as well. I was wondering if there are too many of the white crystals in there, maybe I should remove a few?

  5. Wow, Kashmira - You did great! Three hops on one day - whew! I like all you pieces, including the unfinished one. Especially the earrings with the white "disco balls" on the ends. Thanks so much for participating!

    1. Thank you, Lisa! Wish I could have made a few more things :((

I do love those disco ball earrings myself. I saw a few different colored ones in other folks work. Where did you get them? They're cool!

    2. I got the disco balls online, but I can't remember where (there goes my old memory again). If I remember I'll let you know. :-)

  6. You did do a good job on your soup, and I can relate to the 'eek, I signed up for too many challenges' feeling! I like the beginnings of the necklace, I'd love to see where you go from here.

    1. Thanks Shirley! I am still in that 'eek' mode...two more posts due on Tuesday :((

I was thinking of using chain to finish it off, but now I am seeing a few other options in my mind. after seeing all the comments, I think I will finish it for sure :)

  8. For one week of work - I would say you did well :)
I love all your pieces - and... you'll probably think I'm nuts... but I love the last one the best. Maybe it's the colouring in the elements (you know how crazy I am for blue), maybe it's the style - I would finish it and wear it too!

    1. Oh..this is all 2 days of panic, lol :)

And I do believe its the blue that is drawing you, will finish it for sure, have gotten some good encouraging comments about it :)

  11. Wow - you created a whole bunch of fun things! And beautiful, too! I think my favorite pieces are the necklace (there's just something so pretty about it!!) and those long, chain earrings with the beads at the bottom - LOVE those! I cannot wear earrings like this because I have such an awfully short neck, so of course those types are always my favorite! - Figuures, huh?! Great designs all of them!!

    1. Hey Shel, I think you are drawn to the necklace because of the filigree...because it reminds you of the door-knockers you saw in Italy :P

And I totally "get" why you like long earrings when you can't really wear them. I am like that with big hoop earrings. My face is so small, that if I wear big hoops, it looks like I have three faces, lol!

  12. Those are all wonderful and your pictures are awesome. If those are not satisfactory, I think your "good" pictures will blow me away. :) I have to say, I really adore all of the earrings you made. The butterfly ones, in particular, are gorgeous.

    1. lol, Tanya. I agree with the hubby...but just a little bit. Because they are all a teensy bit out of focus, and the colors are not "true". I do like to hear his opinion, which is almost always very critical, because it helps me get better. But don't tell him that, lol :)

I am with you about the earrings, I love them too! Too bad, I only had two coils, I can't make more any time soon.

    1. Oh Marlene, you like me too much, so you like it all :) About the pictures, he is a "little bit" right, because they are all a teensy bit out of focus, and the colors are not "true". But they are definitely not an eye-sore like he said, lol :)

  14. I think you did a beautiful job using Lisa's beads. My personal favorite is the set you made to go with your 'History' hop with the antiqued brass, hot pink beads and bright blue fringe. All of your designs are so unique, and I love your creativity!

  15. Ok you probably don't want to hear this, but the blue leaf necklace is my favorite. The matching necklace and earrings would be next, but I really like where the leaf necklace is going. As always all your pieces are lovely. I can see a great improvement in your work since I first discovered you earlier this year as well. You are really growing your skills, and expanding your style.
