Wrapped, Stacked and Layered

If you are looking for the reveal for Bonnie's Spring Creative Color Challenge post, please go here

Bracelets! I have a love-hate relationship with them. Sometimes I totally HAVE to have them (which is usually when I am shopping) and at other times I wonder why anyone even needs them (you guessed it, this is when I am getting dressed to go out). I think this is what created a mental block: I cannot ever create bracelets. The biggest concern has been what size should I make, there really can't be a standard size for it (and yes, you big chain stores, there IS NOT a standard size! Maybe you ought to stock something for the smaller boned people too, so the bangles don't fall off their wrists!)

I made my first bracelet ever for my little niece. She is all of 8 years old and was visiting me over Christmas. I asked her what I should make for her, and she said she wanted an anklet. Gulp! We settled for a bracelet instead and together we made something very cute with red beads and little fish. But see, she was there, I could size is properly. Anyway...enough rambling....

I saw this challenge Tracy announced early this month.

I knew it was now or never for me! Time to overcome the block! I took it up.

And I did make bracelets. 4 of them! And I loved them. The fear is gone. I can't wait to make more. But the challenge that Tracy had set was to stack them. That one I think I failed at :( All four bracelets I made were SO different from each other, no way I could stack them together. So I picked one, and rummaged through my jewelry drawer to find something I could stack it with. I found two bracelets..handmade...by my husband! (He's the brave one! He never had any bracelet-phobia!). I decided to use those.

Time to click pictures...I searched all around the house to find something to use to photograph the stack. Found NOTHING! So I failed again :(( I did take some awful pics in the bad light that was left when I got home this evening.

So ... here goes...my meagre offerings....

This is a pic of the bracelet my husband made. He made two of these...

The bracelet is actually so very pretty, I hate to post this crappy pic here. Hope he doesn't see it, he'll hate me for it!

And here's the bracelet I made following Erin Seigel's tutorial

And here is my sad stack

  6. Kashmira! First - there are no sad stacks! I'm happy you were able to get out of your comfort zone and make 4 bracelets! Your stack is exactly what I asked for. You were absolutely right to go shopping in your stash for bracelets to coordinate. I love that your husband made bracelets for you. That is really cool. Thanks for playing along and showing your work!

  10. Kashmira, what a great post! I can't believe you just recently - months ago- made your first bracelet. You are a natural. That is really cool that your stack included a bracelet by your husband - what a collaboration. Your grouping looks great together - its great to see our current jewelry in a new way and wear them like that- now you know what to wear the next time you're looking for something eye-catching when you go out! :-) Kashmira, you found your muse (wink)! :-)

  12. that is not a sad stack at all! I love that you incorporated something special your HUSBAND made... mine would never even attempt that! And I am with you on the wrist challenged thing. I think this may have broken the rut but still bad on the sizing!
    Enjoy the day.

  22. Hi Kashmira! I totally understand your love/hate thing with bracelets. I was like that too. I especially have a hard time buying bangles! I ADORE bangles but I have pudgy hands and a small/medium wrist so while the bangle would totally fit my wrist, it would never EVER pass over my hand. And then the "plus-size" bangles I've found are never as pretty as "normal-size" bangles. Le sigh.

I would LOVE to see the bracelets you made. But the ones you have here in your post are gorgeous! I love the fact your husband made you two bracelets! And the one you made for this stack goes so well with his! I love the rich colors. They remind me of Fall. :D

  23. Kashmira, I'm glad you overcame your bracelet fears. I love the one you made and it works well with your husband's bracelets. I agree with you on the "standard sizing." I've had to restring a few bracelets because they would fall off my hand otherwise.

  24. I think they look really cute! They go great together! Nice job!

  29. Okay - I don't think your stack is sad at all - I think it's quite nice, actually. And the one your hubby made is great - he's got talent. And I really like the one you made from Erin's tutorial - I love the pops of red!! I'm glad you joined the challenge and you had fun!

  30. Awww...Chin up! It looks great. Hubs is quite the jewelry maker. I think they look great stacked together.

  31. I wouldn't call that a "sad stack!" I think they go wonderfully together! (I can't believe I missed this challenge. I've always loved wearing 3 or 4 or 6 or 7 bracelets on my arm at once! ha!)

I think you BOTH did great and I think it's fun that you did it as a team!
