Oh, What A Mess!!!!

And now its time for revealing my chaos for the Messy Workshop Blog Hop By Brenda Sue

I am a naturally messy person...or in other words, I have zero organizational skills. Zero! The husband is the opposite, everything, even his trash can is organized and neat and clean. So I bet he cringes every single time he comes home from work in the evening to see this...

Yup! This is my living room. Before I started beading, our home used to be like a model home, everything placed very thoughtfully and not a sign of chaos. But oh well...here we are.

I have tried to contain my work to this little corner though. Actually, am trying to not let things overflow from the yellow sheet. Its a challenge! Notice the pliers...they are taking up the space where my butt is supposed to be!

This is the main area, will share some pics of each little bit one by one...

This little ottoman is my "desk". Here are a few different "works" in progress. Now when I look at the picture, I have no clue what I was trying to make!

Here's a beading tray that I used for current projects before the chaos spread so much. Its by the fireplace, hiding the hubby's careful arrangement of candles. Some beads in prescription bottles, a needlebook, a pair of finished earrings under the tray, and various things that I started, but never got around to finishing.

The other side of the "desk". The white box is my "tool box". Then there is a case for my crochet hooks, a tae measure, box of wires, and the pink Victoria's Secret bag holds my small, but precious inventory!

Another view of the same...hmm...the pliers seem to be marching away under the desk!

The "other" other side of the desk...

I tried so hard to not let my supplies spill out of the yellow sheet. But they escaped!
Some more prescription bead bottles, rubber block for hammering, bust, glue, and an ongoing crochet project in the blue Wet Seal bag.

And finally my "storage" area

The big bag contains beads in ziplock bags sorted by color. The Guess bag as brass components, and the other Guess bag has silver and gold tone components.
*Edited to add: The hubby got my bags organized, not me :-)

Not a whole lot of supplies actually :( Which is good and bad...I can still control the chaos a bit!

My camera died right after this picture. I guess it could not handle any of this anymore!

So there it is in all its glory!

Be sure to check out all the other creative mess other participants have put up!

  1. Too funny about your camera! I too have many projects started, and then forgot what I was going to do. I put them(or most of them) into a drawer, then continue to forget about them!

  2. What are you mean you're not organized? You seem to know exactly which shopping bags hold which supplies. All of my supplies have to be in see-through containers for me to find ANYTHING! I appreciate you taking the time to share your messy space.

  3. Kashmira-Muse, I love your living room workshop! You've got a cozy little space right by the fireplace - the best seat in the house. Like you, I like to work on the floor too! If you could see my space - beads, trays, strands, wire, buttons all over the place...on the floor. Thanks for the peek in your world!

  4. You keep it really well-contained, something that isn't happening here. I failed to take photos of where my beads have traveled all over the house!

  5. LOL, I know all about supplies that escape! Things wander off into other rooms and soon your projects are all over the place.

  6. Make it work is the first thing that comes to mind. You've literally made a space to create. You make some great pieces and to see where the came to life is really cool. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Beads in prescription bottles, now that's a first! Don't feel bad about creating in the living room. I did that for 2 years before we bought our home and I was allowed to "Borrow" the guest room. ~ Brassy

  8. Wonderful chaos, fab creativity! That's the common denominator for all of us in this Blog Hop and, I think, quite cathartic for many. Now we KNOW we're not alone! THANKS for participating!

    1. Poor men :) My friends and I often wonder when men started getting more "domesticated" than us women ;) Not complaining, of course ;)

  11. Nice that you can work where ever and make it your space. I'd be hard pressed to clean up...ever. My guy NEVER yells or says anything about my space, I think I'll keep him around. :)

  12. At least you have one person in the house that's organized! My bf and I are both cluttering people! Loved your post!

  13. You managed to pack quite a bit in your small space - keep an eye on those pliers though! :)

  14. Kashmira, what a pretty name!, and I just love that you work on the floor, I wish I could do that... But my 2 year- old will probably throw all my beads in the air and make more mess than my husband can handle lol . And what a nice hubby you have that organized your bags for you! Anyway thank you for the tour and nice to meet you :)

    1. Thanks Cynthia (for the compliment on my name)

And thanks for the rest :)

I tried working on a table, but didnt like the thought that stuff would fall off...but yeah...working on the floor with a toddler would be tough.

And finally...yup, hubby is a sweetheart. He knows I cannot organize to save my life ;-)

  15. Thank you for sharing!

I'm a naturally messy person as well, and am constantly reminding my husband that he knew what he was getting into when he married me, ha! My house if far from a model home, though... and it will stay messy until I can afford to hire someone to pick up after me. :-)

    1. Thanks Robin :) Oh you dont want anyone picking up after you...you will never know where they put that bead that you need right NOW ;)

  16. i tried to keep my stuff in our livingroom, so i could be with my husband in the evenings... it kept spilling out away from my designated area... plus, the dog was eating stray beads, which wasn't good... i love how you work on your ottoman! you have a cute work area, and i love your pieces of jewelry!

  18. Kashmira my hubby says you are very organised - that's not saying much for me - and I got told off because you have a sheet spread out and I dont ( we have wood on the floor and he's forever finding little beads/ bits of wire - I say wear shoes!) - a fine mess you got me into, lol

    1. Lol, Nina :) Tell him the sheet is there simply for my benefit, not for organizing. Its there so that I can see my beads better :D

  19. Wow, your living room looks like a place you can work in!! I like your work, I like the colors. I bet you have fun! I organize in bags and boxes too. I like your idea of putting beads and stone together by color. I am thinking that is something I want to try.

  22. I love your fireplace and unique desk. I give you a lot of credit for trying to stay within the "sheet". Hard to keep everything in its place when ideas are flowing. Sounds like you have a wonderful husband and he organizes too...Thanks for sharing...Gerry

    1. Thanks Gerry! Yeah, I need that sheet! One...so that I can actually SEE my beads, and second, as you mentioned...to contain the spread. I need boundaries, lol :)

  23. Your work area and your bead board look uncannily similar to mine...I use the same "system" of sitting in one corner of the living room!

  24. It is so cool how even when we don't have an actual studio or desk we just make it work and use what ever we have on hand. How sweet of your DH to organize your beads for you. I love having books and magazines around me too. Thanks so much for sharing.

    1. Yeah...I guess that is what creativity is all about...make it work :) Hubby is a total sweetie...he does take care of a lot of things for me!
And the books...oh I don't know how they appeared there...just like everything else, they just gravitated towards the sheet, lol :)

  25. I love how we can make a work space out of almost anything. You are so smart for trying to contain the creativity to the sheet. How very sweet of your DH to organize your beads for you, mine stays very far away from my stash. Thanks for sharing your space.

  27. Oh, Kashmira!!! I love your little space by the fireplace!!! What an awesome creation space!!! =)

Love your use of old pill bottles as bead storage!

Please make sure to pick up your pliers before you sit back down again! LOL Wouldn't want anything poking ya! LOL

I am loving all of your "mess" You have so many great things!

Hey, what's that book under the Victoria's Secret bag? The Complete Idiot's Guide to.... ??? Can't quite read the rest of the title, the plastic bag is blurring it and my eyes aren't that great to be able to decipher! LOL I ask because I absolutely LOVE the Complete Idiot's Guides - I MUCH prefer them to the "Dummies" series - can't stand those... LOL But I love CIG's! =)

You have a wonderful bit of chaos! I think it's awesome! And I know you create many absolutely gorgeous things out if it! =)

Hope your camera was able to be revived! LOL

Thanks for sharing your space with us! =)

    1. Oh, I like those pill bottles :) Nice and secure and I can see through them!

The book is about JavaScript and the one under it Concurrent Programming...threads and stuff in Java. My day-job also crept into my bead-space, haha :)

Oh yeah, the camera just ran out of battery, charged and well now :)

  28. Thanks for sharing your space, Kashmira. I am overwhelmed with an urge to take you to the store and help you pick out oodles of plastic bead containers, lol. Your living room looks like a really comfortable work area.

  29. It's rather scary how much our work areas have in common! My hubby calls it Beadworld and it had crept to at least one room in every level of this townhouse (3). I think he was mumbling how he couldn't get to his closet to hang up his clean shirts! It's out of control, for sure, and I have storage bins! Thanks for sharing. ã‚·

  30. Kel, lol, scary isn't it how the innocent looking beads actually manage to take over our homes :) I try so hard to keep them on that sheet, but they stray ;-)
