Finally, its reveal day :-)
Before anything else, a big THANK YOU to all the super talented participants. Thanks for the participation, the encouragement, the interaction, everything!
For those who don't know...this is the first ever blog hop I am hosting. I got the idea when I saw a colleague sporting a really delicate one with super cute polka dotted ballet flats :)
It went smooth enough, and here is the big day! I have already sneaked a peek at some of the designs, and am humbled by the gorgeousness I saw. Mine definitely pale in comparison. But...this is not a competition, just a fun addition to our summer wardrobes, so here goes.
I made three (actually four, but have pics of only 3) anklets, and converted one from a bracelet to an anklet this morning because it kept falling off my wrist ;-) I will start with the last one first.
This one, I started off with aqua cotton cord, then white cotton cord, then silver chain, and finally this...which I like a lot. I reallllly wanted to use the little dolphin bead for a beach themed anklet, and hence all those iterations.
I loved the black chain with the little dolphin. But I did not have a black clasp, so I added the silver and blue accents and added silver clasp. I spoke to Cynthia the day I started this, and she mentioned bells. And that just gave me this sudden urge to add bells to mine too!
I realized only after I took these photos that the two larger beads are not matching! But I like this one enough to keep it for myself. Which means I can be lazy and let the beads be ;-)
The next one is nothing great design wise, but pretty nonetheless. I wanted to use the purple bead with a gold center, and came up with this. My sister gave me a strand of these beads.
And finally, the star! I wanted to do something different, something "un-anklet" like, and this perfectly fits that!
I made this from a pair of earring dangles Melinda Orr sent to me as a gift. Adding the chains turned out to be quite a challenge. I did not want to use plain jumprings, so I made very tiny figure 8 links. The chain is very fine, so the links had to be miniscule, and exact in size. But I did it :) Am thrilled with this one :) *pats-self-on-the-back*
Here are a few other pics I took of them all together...a happy family ;)
There were two parts to this challenge:
1. There has to be color - check
2. Make a polyvore set (optional) - not done :( I will add it tomorrow. Trouble with that is, I don't know how to upload an item to polyvore. It has to be there on some website so you can clip it. And I couldn't add the pics because they are a big secret! But I will make them this weekend and do a post with them. Promise!
Another optional part (which I think some of the participants thought was mandatory, and am not going to correct them now, teehee), are modeled pics of the anklets. I have those :) Ugly pictures, but I have them! So I will show you :p
Well...that was fun! Do visit all the other participants, I promise there is some serious eye-candy there!

Oooo.... nice! That dark chain with the turquoise really stands out! I like that a lot! The 2nd one is pretty two, but #3 is my absolute favorite! They are all wonderful, Kashmira!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for hosting this fun event, and teaching those of us who needed some enlightening about the pleasures of ankle bracelets! I've had a great time!
Yes! Anklets are fun and you better wear them, Miss Sharyl :)
DeleteI love my little dolphin too, and my sister claimed the red one a few minutes after I published this post :)
Hi Kashmira,
ReplyDeleteI love what you created! You are the anklet queen! My personal favorite is the last one using Melinda Orr's earring dangles in such an awesome way. :) I also like the beach themed anklet and would wear that one all summer I'm sure.
Thanks Roxi :)
DeleteThe red one made me very happy when I was done. And the blue one continues to make me happy :)
I love them all Kashmira. My favorite would have to be the earring pieces turned into a focal of sorts. I was going for some additional width in my anklets and I think this piece captures that look.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ema! I was also wanting something that would "fill" up my foot, but chickened out while making them. The red one is kind of in-between.
DeleteHehe ..I didn't think it was 'mandatory', but thought it was a fun 'rule' to encourage ;) lol
ReplyDeleteAnd I love all your anklets ( I think the star is my fave , too ;) ) and they make me realize that I could've used SO many elements from my stash that have been ignored for so long... including a bunch of different earring dangle things... although you've given me ideas for using them beyond earrings and anklets ;)
Sorry I completely spaced on the blog hop button >.< lol thank you for a hosting a great hop :) You did a fabulous job as hostess!
lol, I think I spaced out and didn't add the button too, hahaha :)
DeleteI was done "thinking-outside-the-box" after my "star" was made..after that I was just having fun. I love what you made! I saw it last night before I published my post and was feeling mine pale so much in comparison. But now I think they are alllll pretty :)
Thanks for participating :D
Great pieces Kashmira, I especially like the third piece with the repurposed earring dangles. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammie :) Yup, she's my star :)
DeleteThank you so much for hosting, Kashmira! All 3 of your designs are beautiful. Must say I'm especially partial to the red one...love the triple chain. :) I haven't designed anklets before, so this was fun - and I now have some new summer accessories!
ReplyDeleteAm so glad you joined, Mimi, loved what you made!
DeleteMy sister claimed the red one within minutes of publishing this post :)
Great stuff! I will add to that pat on your back :) its so fun that you used the earring bits, that one is my fave - so creative! Thank you for hosting us, now I have to go an snap some pics to share. Shocking twist - matching earrings
ReplyDeleteyou're so cute, Emma :) Thank you! And I saw that twist...wayyyy cool!
DeleteI think I am going to use more of my earring bits to make something other than earrings from now on :)
I really like the look of the black chain. Thanks so much for organizing this for us.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome, Ginger :)
DeleteI love that one too...even though the red one is the star, the blue one is more wearable!
I love the one with the cute little dolphin bead! Soooo cute! I enjoyed the blog hop so much and especially making the anklets. Started beading again, yeah!
ReplyDeleteYayyy on you starting to bead again! You're soooo good at it!
DeleteI love my little dolphin too :)
Yours are great. Really like that last one with the chains and the dangles. A creative use of a component made for something else. Can't wait to see what everyone else created.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much :) That one made me happy, they would not have made such interesting earrings, right?
DeleteThese are sweet! And love the bells :). The final one is fantastic - love it! That is such a great idea to use earring connectors that way!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cynthia! I totally forgot to show you the bits I salvaged those bells from :( I will...soon...promise!
DeleteI love your anklets. This was a really fun challenge for me. I thoroughly enjoyed making my reveals and have been wearing one of them ever since. Thank you for organizing this.
ReplyDeleteI loved all of yours too! Thanks much for joining and adding to the fun :
DeleteThanks again for hosting this terrific hop, Kashmira! Especially love the last look with your creative use of multi chain links. Beautiful on your foot!
ReplyDeleteLynda
Thank you, Lynda, you are always so sweet :)
DeleteYeah, my star is so pretty, right?
My foot...I was so surprised to see the pics...it blends in with the step I put it up on, lol :)
Oh, the dolphin one is my favorite - I'd be keeping that one for myself, too! I really like all three of your anklets - the gold is beautiful and he 'unusual one' is super cool, too! Great pics of your anklets on your ankles. I need to do the polyvore set this week, too - haven't done one in a while and not sure how I'll get it to work w/the photos the way I have them, but I'll try! Thanks for hosting such a fun and challenging blog hop - it was fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the dolphin is so totally wearable, right? I am totally slacking on the polyvore too :(
DeleteGreat job on the anklets! The last one is definitely my favorite! Thanks for hosting this fun blog hop!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome Dyanne! Glad you joined!
DeleteI don't wear anklets, but I'm starting to change my mind seeing those beauties!!! The red one (the star) is my favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pepita! You should totally wear them. Your feet deserve them :)
DeleteMy sister claimed "my star" within minutes of seeing them :) Nice in a way, I can always ask her to sent it back, lol
Kashmira,
ReplyDeleteLoved your anklets. The dolphin bead is so cute and I like the way you finished it. The colors of the ankle number two are awesome and what a great design idea on number #3- with the earring findings! cool. They look really nice on person. Your pictures are great. Had a lot of fun doing this blog hop. Thank you so much. Dita.
Dita Di! Thank you! Very much! I was totally spacing out on what the earring "bits" were officially called. Thanks for refreshing my brain...findings...of course :)
DeleteAnd thanks for joining! Hugs!
Love your creations, Kashmira... and what a great way to use those multi-loop links! As usual I started at the END of our list of participants (I am backward and proud of it LOL) so you are my last place to visit. What a successful blog hop, almost everyone was able to join in... will keep an eye out for the rest.
ReplyDeletelol, you are so cute, Mon :)
DeleteFirst I want to thank you for hosting this fabulous and fun blog hop. I think I have found something new I like to make and have started thinking up some new ideas. I love all of your designs, but am partial to the red and silver one...
ReplyDeleteCheri
Thanks Cheri! Can I cheat a little bit and say that the red is a substitute for the copper I promised I will make?
DeleteAnd you are so very welcome! Thank YOU for joining :)
All of your Anklets are beautiful!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.prettyshinyobject.com/
Wow! Three! Wonderfully delicate! I think my favorite is the red but I do like the dolphin bead. This was such fun. Thanks for letting me join in. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks YOU for joining, Karla! A hop/challenge is only as good as its participants, and I am lucky with my gang :)
DeleteI love the one made from the earrings. But all are beautiful!! Thanks for hosting this fun and challenging hop!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, Dyanne :) Thanks much for joining all of us :)
DeleteI love all of your designs.. but my fav is def the one with the dolphin :) But I like how you took the two earring dangles and switched them up.. Great idea... Thanks again for hosting this blog hop.. I enjoyed it too much :) lol
ReplyDeleteI love my dolphin too! Red is pretty, but dolphin is my cutie pie :)
DeleteAnd am glad you had so much fun with this!
Great designs! I like the dolphin one the best.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy! Yeah, that one's a keeper :)
DeleteI like them all, but the earring one is my very favorite. Thank you for hosting, it has inspired me to make more (which my sister and her friends think I really need to do, lol!) I had a lot of fun, and am so happy to have found two traditional anklets with the silver bells at garage sales which I plan to keep for myself. I am glad it was fun for you, too, you make a great hostess!!!
ReplyDeleteGina H
Wearing anklets can get addictive, isn't it? :)
DeleteI remember those garage sale finds, they are certainly keepers.
And glad you had fun, you all are such a great gang, was easy hosting y'all :)
I totally missed out on this somehow. I got SO BEHIND on my blog reading between my computer getting messed up and the BSBP (since I was determined to visit ALL the blogs). But now I'm finally catching up. I've actually never made an anklet, and this would have been the perfect reason for me to try something new. I'm sorry I didn't see it. It looks like your first blog hop is a success though, CONGRATS!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the anklets. . .I really like the delicacy of your first two. The tiny chain is perfect to give a femininity to them. That last one is so cool though. I love the way you used the earring frames to make a 'focal' for the anklet. And the figure 8 connectors were a brilliant solution. Awesome!
Beautiful beautiful, what a great hop!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kepi :) There sure is a lot of great work here!
DeleteI'm back from New Orleans and I'll be visiting everyone's blogs on Monday. I had hoped to start Saturday night but spending all day in the heat left me dead tired.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for hosting this blog hop! I have really enjoyed it and look forward to seeing everyone's creations.
I love the variety of anklets that you created--I'm not sure that I could pick a favorite. They are all beautiful
Thanks so much, Susan! I can't imagine how you do it...putting in long hours at shows and all the other business related work! And then add hops and challenges to it :) Hats off!
DeleteI love the unexpected use of earring components, Kashmira! And it lays perfectly when worn. All are so beautiful! Thanks for hosting a perfect hop!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first blog hop, Kashmira! You outdid yourself with 3 gorgeous designs - all so pretty, hard to pick a favorite. I like how they are each completely different from the other. :-)
ReplyDeleteKashmira, what beautiful anklets you created! LOve the gold and lavender, and the black and ocean blues dolphin anklet! Your earring design is inspired! Just gorgeous, as is your jewelry always!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting our fun blog hop. I enjoyed creating my first ever rose gold jewelry, and I even purchased some very special brass bells (from a vintage belly dancer's tummy bracelet) to create another design as soon as my health returns. I enjoyed "weaving" my anklet so much as it was a meditative, healing way of making jewelry. Thank you for that gift. It really helped with pain & brought me much higher energy, the healing energy of creating! Gracias dear Kashmira for this gift :) xxoo Love, Rita
